The Michigan Wolverines have secured a commitment from Albany cornerback Aamir Hall, a notable addition from the transfer portal. Hall, who brings two years of eligibility with him, is expected to immediately contend for a significant role in Ann Arbor's defensive lineup this season.

FCS All-American Aamir Hall Commits to Michigan

Standing at 6-1 and weighing 201 pounds, Hall made an impression during his recent visit to Ann Arbor. Last season at Albany, he distinguished himself as an FCS All-American, amassing 57 tackles, five interceptions, and 13 passes defended, in addition to forcing a fumble. On3 first reported his commitment.

His performance earned him an impressive 85.7 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, including an 88.3 in coverage.

Before his tenure at Albany, Hall spent three years at Richmond, participating in nine games in 2022. He racked up 28 tackles, 1.5 of them for loss, secured an interception, and defended three passes. The spring season of 2021, which was postponed from the fall due to COVID-19, saw him play in all four games, starting three, with 18 tackles and two pass breakups.

In the 2021 fall season, he started all 11 games, defending 13 passes and intercepting another, alongside 60 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and a sack.

With a vacancy at the No. 2 cornerback position opposite Will Johnson, who is seen as a potential top-five pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft, Michigan has high hopes. Pro Football Focus ranks Johnson as the fourth overall prospect. Matching or exceeding these expectations would make him the highest-drafted defensive back from Michigan since Charles Woodson in 1998.

The coaching staff is keen on bolstering the team with top talent, aiming to uphold the defensive excellence demonstrated last season.

Hall is among six transfers joining Michigan this offseason, including wide receivers C.J. Charleston and Amorion Walker, offensive lineman Josh Priebe, linebacker Jaishawn Barham, and kicker Dominic Zvada, all of whom are anticipated to vie for substantial playing time this summer.
