After beating England in the Ranchi Test, India have retained the Anthony de Mello Trophy. With India needing to win the last Test at Dharamshala to gain important World Test Championship points, England need the consolation win for the series.

To strengthen their bowling attack, Jasprit Bumrah will return to play in Dharamshala. He was given a rest in the Ranchi Test, with the team management wanting to reduce his workload with the IPL and 2024 ICC T20 World Cup coming up.

Meanwhile, KL Rahul’s participation in the Test match is not yet confirmed. The batter has complained of pain on his right quadriceps, injuring the same during the 2023 IPL. He had undergone surgery for it and missed over four months of cricket, before returning for the 2023 Asia Cup

The BCCI has sent him to London due to the injury. He was considered to be 90% fit for the Ranchi Test, but the team management and medical experts decided to not risk it. Despite this, he has not yet fully recovered. He complains of pain even though the physios and medical team believe everything is fine with him. He will now get an expert’s opinion, with his return not yet guaranteed.

India wants to release Rajat Patidar, but unsure thanks to KL Rahul

Rajat Patidar has failed to make a mark in the ongoing Test series. In the six innings he has played, he has scored a combined 63 runs. With his performances in the past three Tests, the BCCI wants to release him.

By releasing him, Patidar could play for Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy semi-finals, which will be against Vidarbha. But as KL Rahul’s injury woes continue, they could keep Patidar in the team. According to the Times of India, one of their sources claims Devdutt Padikkal could make his Test debut.
