The Chicago White Sox made a pair of roster moves prior to Friday's series opener against the Colorado Rockies. As expected, the club recalled Lenyn Sosa from Triple-A Charlotte to add middle infield depth while Tim Anderson serves a five-game suspension.
This call-up marks Sosa's second stint with the White Sox this season. In 22 games from mid-April to mid-May, the 23-year-old slashed .132/.145/.221 with one home run, three doubles, and three RBIs across 70 plate appearances. In 71 games with Triple-A Charlotte, Sosa posted a .271/.313/.507 slash line with 17 home runs and 44 RBIs.
To make room for Sosa on the roster, the White Sox placed Eloy Jimenez on the paternity list. Jimenez, who was day-to-day with a groin issue after missing Wednesday's game, must be out at least one game but no more than three while on the paternity list.
The White Sox begin a three-game series with the Colorado Rockies on Friday night. Michael Kopech will take the mound for the Sox against Rockies righty Peter Lambert. First pitch is at 7:40 PM CT and the game will air on NBC Sports Chicago.
