Another NFL Insider Reports Los Angeles Rams Considering QB Draft Pick in 1st Round
Darren Yamashita-USA TODAY Sports

The 33rd Team’s NFL Insider Ari Meirov dropped his one and only first-round NFL Mock Draft on Tuesday. In it, he seeks to use only inside information acquired in the days and weeks in the run-up to Thursday’s draft. So what has he heard about the Los Angeles Rams’ plans for the 19th overall pick?

Meirov’s Intel On Rams Draft Pick

Here is Meirov’s selection based on the intel he has picked up;

“I’ve been saying for weeks on The 33rd Team that the Los Angeles Rams’ actions have told us they could be a sneaky quarterback team. First and foremost, Matthew Stafford is getting up there in age (36) and has no guaranteed money left on his deal after this season.”

“Second, Sean McVay previously considered leaving for TV but ultimately decided to stay with the next group of young players for the long run. So he needs to ensure he has his next guy in the building, and if he loves someone, he’s winning that argument. Third, this team tried to trade for Sam Howell earlier this offseason but fell short of Seattle’s offer.”

2024 NFL Mock Draft: Insider Predictions For Entire First Round

QB Options for the Los Angeles Rams at 19

If this is indeed the direction the Rams want to go in, the slower quarterbacks come off the board the better. But some predict a picks 1 through 4 scenario playing out this year. A liberal look at the draft board shows 10 QB-needy teams and a conservative look shows five. Meaning, the Rams will likely have their choice of J.J. McCarthy, Michael Penix Jr., or Bo Nix depending on how the Minnesota Vikings and Las Vegas Raiders feel about those options.

Meirov narrows the selection to Penix and Nix and opts for Nix in his mock draft.
